- 1755 raised as the 56th Regiment of Foot
- 1756 became the 54th Regiment of Foot
- 1782 became the 28th (West Norfolk) Regiment of Foot
- 1881 amalgamated with the 39th Regiment of Foot to form The Dorsetshire Regiment
