Summary
After Havelock's attempt to relieve Lucknow Colin Campbell was made Commander in Chief and left Cawnpore on 9 November. With 4,700 troops and 32 guns he attacked the rebels at Alambagh and the Jelalabad Fort. Lieutenant Hugh Gough won a Victoria Cross.
