Orenstein & Koppel
In 1900 'Orenstein & Koppel', a German light railway builder and supplier opened its Indian office at 48 Hare Street, Calcutta and a workshop and storage facility at Pilkhana in Howrah [1].
By Dec 1906 their Agents were [1]:-
- Killick, Nixon & Company in the Bombay Presidency
- Begg, Sutherland & Company of Cawnpore in the United Provinces and Bihar.
The business of 'Aurthur Koppel & Co' was taken over by 'Orenstein & Koppel' in 1909 following the death of Aurthur Koppel [2].
The company regularly advertised in Trade Journals claiming it had the largest stock in India of light railway materials for use by contractors, collieries, irigation works, forest works, tea gardens, mills etc.
