85th Regiment of Foot

Chronology
- 1759 raised in Shrewsbury as the 85th Light Infantry (or Royal Volunteers)
- 1763 disbanded at Salisbury
- 1778 raised in London as the 85th (Westminster Volunteers) Regiment of Foot
- 1783 disbanded at Dover Castle
- 1793 raised as the 85th (Bucks Volunteers) Regiment of Foot
- 1808 became the 85th (Bucks Volunteers) (Light Infantry) Regiment
- 1815 became the 85th (Bucks Volunteers, Duke of York's Own Light Infantry) Regiment
- 1821 became the 85th (Bucks Volunteers) (The King's Light Infantry) Regiment
- 1881 combined with 53rd (Shropshire) Regiment of Foot to become The King's Light Infantry (Shropshire Regiment)
- 1921 became The King's Shropshire Light Infantry
- 1968 became the 3rd Battalion of The Light Infantry
