The Cawnpore-Achnera Provincial State Railway was formed on 1st July 1884 from the merger of the metre gauge(MG) ‘Muttra Achnera Provincial State Railway’, the ‘Cawnpore Farukhabad Provincial State Railway’ and the ‘Muttra Hathras Provincial Railway[1] see separate pages.

The ‘Cawnpore-Achnera Provincial State Railway’ was owned by the Provincial Government and initially operated together with the Rajputana-Malwa Railway, both being worked under an Agreement by the Bombay, Baroda and Central India Railway(BB&CIR) dated 1st October 1886 [2]

The Bindrabin Branch Railway was a short branch to the 'Cawnpore-Achnera Provincial State Railway and worked by the BB&CIR under the same arrangements [3]

The ‘Rajputana-Malwa Railway’ and the ‘Cawnpore-Achnera Provincial State Railway’ were absorbed by the ‘Bombay, Baroda and Central India Railway’(BB&CIR) on 8th April 1907.
