- 1858 raised as the 2nd Bengal European Light Cavalry for service in the Indian Mutiny
- 1860 renamed the 2nd Bengal European Cavalry
- 1862 renamed the 20th Hussars
- 1922 amalgamated with the 14th King's Hussars to become the 14th/20th King's Hussars
- 1992 amalgamated with the The Royal Hussars (Prince of Wales's Own) to become The King's Royal Hussars
