Construction Engineering Personnel
Covering the initial stages of construction up to 1870, these are listed in the 'Personnel' section for each project:-

This list is not complete - pending further research The following specific records refer to GIPR personnel with information from a number of sources:-
- James John Berkeley was appointed Chief Engineer of GIPR in 1849 and under his leadership extended the GIPR network as far as Jalgon in the northeast and Sholapur to the south east , a total of 514 miles with only small stretches of Thal Ghat and Bhore Ghat to be completed [1].
- Robert Maitland Brereton, 1857, GIPR Assistant Engineer to Robert W Graham; later GIPR Chief Engineer
- Everard Richard Calthrop Joined GIPR in 1862 as a Locomotive Inspector; 1886, proposals and surveys, on behalf of GIPR, of what became Nasik Tramways and Barsi Light Railway, these were not pursued by GIPR. In 1887 Calthrop registered in London of the ‘Indian Railways Feeder Lines Company’ to promote the construction of NG lines in India and in 1889 resigned from GIPR and, acting as consulant, supervised the construction of the NG horse-powered Nasik Tramways, using his previous survey.

GIPR Consulting Engineers - based in London
- Robert Stephenson , Consulting Engineer GIPR, based in England, 1849- until his death 1859 [5].
- Arthur Anderson West, Consultant Engineer 1847 - 1867, (surveyor of the Bhore Gate Incline) [6]
- George Barclay Bruce from 1894 was the Consulting Engineer to the GIPR and the Indian Midland Railway(IMR), based in London, in partnership with Robert White [7]. The IMR was amagamated into GIPR in 1901 and the partnership continued to act for the GIPR.

- 1910 John Edwin Dallas became Managing Director of the GIPR Company in London. Prior to his retirement from the Indian Public Works Department his final position was Senior Government Inspector of Railways [8].
