Part of the Madras European Infantry, later renamed the 108th Regiment of Foot.

Chronology

1766 raised as the 3rd Madras European Regiment
1774 absorbed into 1st and 2nd Madras European Regiments
1777 reformed as the 3rd Madras European Regiment
1796 disbanded
1854 raised as the 3rd Madras (European) Infantry
1858 taken into the British Army
1859 became the 3rd Madras Infantry
1862 renamed 108th Regiment of Foot
1881 amalgamated with the 27th (Inniskilling) Regiment of Foot to form The Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers
1968 merged with the Royal Ulster Rifles and the Royal Irish Fusiliers and became the Royal Irish Rangers

The Royal Irish [Regiment] Details of Museums and future database for the Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers (27th and 108th Regiments of Foot), the Royal Irish Rifles (83rd and 86th Regiments of Foot) and the Royal Irish Fusiliers (87th and 89th Regiments of Foot).
