The Bowringpet-Chikballapur Railway was a 2ft 6in/762mm narrow gauge(NG) railway built and worked by the Mysore State Railway.
The line, known as the Kolar District Railway connecting Bowringpet (a station on the Madras and Southern Mahratta Railway) with Chikballapur (the terminus of the Chikballapur-Bangalore City Railway)
The line was built by the Mysore State Railway, from funds provided by the Kolar District Board. The section from Bowringpet to Kolar opened in 1913 and reached Chikballapur in 1916 [1]
