Alexander Muirhead CIE (1859-1935). His son Charles Alexander Muirhead CIE (1888-1967) was also in railway service in India.
Educated at a Private school in India. At the age of 18, joined the superior service of a mercantile firm of good standing, as an Assistant.

- Oudh and Rohilkhand Railway] (O&RR) Company, date and employment unknown, in their Lucknow headquarters. From 1889 O&RR was bought out by the Government of India and became a State line.
- South Indian Railway (SIR), dates unknown, appointed as Assistant Traffic Superintendant; promoted Traffic Superintendant.
- Southern Mahratta Railway (SMR), date of appointment unknown, Traffic Manager; c.1896 "The Traffic Manager’s carriage on the South Mahratta Railway. Alexander Muirhead with wife, family and staff" [1]
