The Norfolk Regiment
Chronology
- 1685 raised as Henry Cornewall's Regiment of Foot by James II
- 1751 became the 9th Regiment of Foot
- 1782 became the 9th (East Norfolk) Regiment of Foot
- 1881 became the Norfolk Regiment;
- 1935 became the Royal Norfolk Regiment
- 1959 amalgamated with The Suffolk Regiment to become the 1st Battalion 1st East Anglian Regiment.
- 1964 became 1st Battalion The Royal Anglian Regiment.
