North West Frontier Province was created out of Punjab in 1901. It was part of the Bengal Presidency and it is now a province of Pakistan. In Marach 2010, it was decided to rename the province as Khyber-Pakhtoonwa. However, the constitutional amendment to make it official has to still be passed in the National Assembly.
