Chronology
- 1694 raised as Viscount Charlemont's Regiment of Foot
- 1698 disbanded
- 1701 raised again as Viscount Charlemont's Regiment of Foot also known by the names of eleven other colonels until 1751
- 1751 became 36th Regiment of Foot
- 1782 became 36th (the Herefordshire) Regiment of Foot
- 1881 united with 29th (Worcestershire) Regiment of Foot, to become 2nd Battalion The Worcestershire Regiment
- 1970 amalgamated with The Sherwood Foresters (Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire Regiment) to become Worcestershire and Sherwood Foresters Regiment
- 2004 amalgamated with the 22nd (Cheshire) Regiment and the Staffordshire Regiment to form the new Mercian Regiment
